Pac-Man

Pac-Man is an arcade game of a chase and a maze through which you maneuver a bright yellow circle across twisting mazes with pellets, fruit, and four aggressive ghosts. Your goal is simple: Eat all the pellets and avoid being caught by the ghosts. The clearing of the maze leads you to another level, where all the ghosts, patterns and speed increase and become more difficult. Pac-man was released in 1980 (currently Bandai Namco Entertainment) and was designed by Toru Iwatani, who wanted to attract more people, and games players who did not enjoy shooting or fighting. It was easy to design and with its charming style it became a global cultural icon almost overnight.

How to Play Pac-Man

Pac-Man is famously easy to learn yet endlessly satisfying to master.

Controls:

  • Arrow Keys / Joystick – Move Pac-Man in four directions
  • Objective – Eat all pellets in the maze
  • Power Pellets – Turn ghosts blue and temporarily edible
  • Fruit Bonuses – Grab them for extra points

Each time you clear a maze, the ghosts become more aggressive and their movement patterns grow harder to predict.

Meet the Ghosts

The four ghostly competitors of pac-man are not randomly wandering about, each ghost has a unique behavior pattern, which gives the game depth and strategy:

  • Blinky (Red) - Chases Pac-Man directly with faster and faster speed.
  • Pinky (Pink) - Tries to chase him by shooting in front of Pac-Man.
  • Inky (Blue / Cyan ) - Combines the position of Pac-Man and Blinky to determine the direction.
  • Clyde (Orange) - switches between pursuing and going nowhere randomly.

It is important to understand these personalities to avoid traps and score better.

Tips to Level Up Your Pac-Man Skills

Need to make it last longer and have a higher score? The following are reliable methods that can assist those who are new and those that are experienced:

  1. Study the routes of the mazes - You will know the safe areas and corners with traps so that you are not trapped.
  2. Apply Power Pellets on the appropriate time - Wait until several ghosts are close together and then activate one.
  3. Keep your head when the pressure is on - Ghosts walk in the same patterns every time; take advantage of it.
  4. Survival before scoring - A continuous running will leave a chance to score more points.
  5. Take the fruit fast - Bonus fruit will not last long on every level.
